Why GoSosmed runs on your own phone (BYOD)
When designing GoSosmed, we faced a classic question: where does mobile automation actually run? The industry’s current answer is the device cloud — renting virtual or physical phones in a data center, at roughly $80 per phone per month (and $250 for an enterprise device-farm slot).
We chose a different path: BYOD — Bring Your Own Device.
How it works
- You install the GoSosmed Agent app (Android) on your phone.
- You enter the pairing code shown on your dashboard.
- Your phone connects to our server over an outbound connection — no root, no open ports, and it works behind NAT.
- From the dashboard you schedule tasks; your phone executes them, and you can watch its screen live.
Why this is better
- Cost. The marginal cost of a BYOD device approaches zero — and that shows in our plan pricing.
- Privacy. Your social account credentials are stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- Authenticity. Activity comes from your real device and network, not data-center IPs that platforms easily flag.
- Security. The pairing code is validated against the server on every connection — your phone cannot be taken over by someone else.
Technical honesty
We publish our development status as it is on the Roadmap page. Our BYOD stack already runs on a physical device and is undergoing production hardening. If something is not finished, we say it is not finished — that is our commitment.
